Wireless Laptops

Welcome to the Wireless Laptops page, wireless technology is a huge leap forward for laptops and offers the ability to use the Internet and home networking without any cables. This means that you can relax on your bed, sofa or anywhere else (within reason!) in your home with your laptop and enjoy browsing the Internet and access files on other computers on your home network.

For a laptop to be wireless is has to have a wireless receiver built into the laptop, before there were these wireless laptops you had to buy a USB or similar adaptor that you plugged into your laptop to receive the wireless signal. These were often a problem though as they extruded from the laptop and so were easy to catch on things, the whole point of being wireless was the freedom to move around with your laptop but these adaptors caused problems with this so it is a very good thing that there are now laptops with a wireless receiver built in.

To use a wireless laptop you will also need a wireless router which is what broadcasts the wireless signal. See our page on wireless routers for more information on these but setting them up is fairly easy, once you have the wireless router set up your laptop will be able to communicate with other computers on your home network and also be able to use broadband if you have a broadband connection.

So buying a laptop with a wireless receiver built in is a great idea as it offers the freedom to use your laptop computer all over your home. Most new laptops now have wireless built in but there are some that do not so to make it easy for you to find and buy a wireless laptop we have listed several on this page. They are listed with the cheapest first which makes it easy to find and buy a cheap wireless laptop and most wireless laptops are quite cheap anyway as the wireless feature does not cost much for the manufacturers to include.
