Broadband is great for use on a laptop but to use it you will need to either have a phone cable connected to your laptop from your broadband modem or use a wireless router so that no cables are needed. Obviously having no cables is much better as it makes it much easier to use your laptop around the home while using the Internet with broadband, if you wish to buy a wireless router then see our wireless routers page.
With broadband it is the speed of the connection that is important and this is limited depending on where you live as it depends on the telephone exchange that you use. For general Internet use speeds of 512KB or 1MB are fine as they are fast enough for browsing web pages and sending emails but if you like to do allot of downloading then you should buy the fastest broadband connection that you can.
